Friday Fever - Diane Kruger "No Makeup" Makeup Look

Hiya!
Love Diane Kruger's style! She makes it look so effortless (hate her!). She adores her red lippy but I decided to dedicate this post to her more usual style of keeping it very casual. She has perfected the "No makeup" makeup look that Chanel ladies love so much and if Diane is anything its a Chanel gal!

Just look at her! So here goes nothing..

  • Moisturize your face. You do not want a flaky face for this look.
  • Apply a dewy foundation of your choice. Ensure that you do not mattify (word of the day ladies!) your face too much as it can sometimes age a face.
  • Conceal as much as you can :) But again, less is more.
  • Highlighting is optional. Highlight your cheekbones, bridge of the nose and your cupid's bow. You wouldn't want to take it any further as it will make you look like a grease monkey. Powder highlights are an oily gal's best friend.
  • Use a sheer rosy blush on the apple's of your cheek and take it all the way up your cheekbones and till your hairline. Remember to blend it well.
  • Now the eyes. Very very minimal. A sheer wash of a nudey pink color (matte or shimmer is left to your liking). Blend a mid-tone sheer brown color into your socket line so that it has some definition.
  • Line your upper lash line with a brown eyeliner. You can opt for a black one but keep it thin.
  • Coat your lashes with buckets of mascara. It should be spikey and separated. Fake eyelashes are always an option (use wispy ones instead of a full set).
  • Use a rosy or a berry lip stain (moisturize your lips before doing this..again flaky lips are not sexy ladies).
Done!
Let me know if you'll need product recommendations for the above look.

Charlize Theron's Snow White and the Huntsman makeup

Hiya!
I wanted to recreate Charlize's look in the movie Snow White and the Huntsman. Maybe its her eyes but she looked absolutely divine in some of the scenes (when she is not withering away into an old hag). The look that I am talking about is an olive-sh sage green eye look. Let's begin shall we?

Step 1: Prime your eyelids if they are oily. I just go over my eyelids with concealer or foundation.

Step 2: Find an olive-ish sage-y green eyeshadow from your makeup bucket ( I literally dump all my pots and pans in a bowl :) ). I am using the L'Oreal Color Infallible eyeshadow in the color "Permanent Kaki".  Just a wash of this color all over your eyelids. The color payoff is good so swirl your brush instead of mopping with it.

Step 3: Use a light gold eyeshadow on the inner 1/3rd portion of your eyelid. I like the light gold shade in the Lakme Eye Color Quartet "Desert Rose". You can substitute this with any gold shade that you have (M.A.C "Gold Mine" or if you want a shade more orange-y then M.A.C "Amber Lights").
Step 4: Line your upper and lower eyes with a dark olive green eyeliner. Chambor Eye Tattoo Liner in the shade "ET 03 - Green" can be used (M.A.C Eye Kohl in "Tarnish" is also a good one).

Step 5: Smudge the eyeliner just applied with a little bit of the gold eyeshadow.

Step 6: Apply your foundation and highlight your cheek bones. Her skin is pretty pale in the movie and therefor minimal blush should do. A pale pink shade should do the trick (M.A.C "Well Dressed").

Done!

Dewy Winter Foundation Routine

Hiya!
After months of painful experimentation (just kidding), I have knocked down my favorite foundation routine. And this works (sadly) when my skin is on the drier side .. so for the oilier ladies like me, winter months. Here goes nothing...

Step 1: Cleanse and wash your face. (Cleansing is so optional especially in winter when you don't want to be dilly dallying with water)

Step 2: Moisturize moisturize moisturize! If your prone to breakouts, I would recommend finding a non greasy formula that works with your skin type. Olay Natural White Light Cream is what I tend to use if I am not using a sun screen.

Step 3: Sun screen. With all the green house effect and global warming articles that come across my screen daily, I have become a bit paranoid about skin cancer :(

Step 4: Finally, the foundation. If your skin is relatively clear, you can get away with just concealer or a tinted moisturizer/BB Cream. I like using my foundation as it is on the dewy-er (don't think that's a word) side and its the Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation in shade 53. It smells absolutely divine! Its on the dewy-er side so if you have oily skin you might want to switch it to a matt-ier (just making up words as I go) foundation.

Step 5: Conceal/hide :) I use the Elizabeth Arden Ceramide Ultra Lift and Firm Concealer as its creamy and conceals a fair bit. Blending is key. You do not want to see a splodge of shoddy cream on your face. It should match your foundation and conceal. So stippling or tapping (?? new at this whole beauty blogging ..forgive moi).

Step 6: Highlight. Love highlighting. Generally in life, just love highlighting everything..even texts! For the face, I use Philosophy Heavenly Pink Illuminator. I take a dab or a spot of the highlighter and mix it with my foundation. Dab this concoction on your cheek bones, temples (if needed), cupid's bow over your lips. I do not tend to highlight my chin or nose as they tend to get greasy over the day. The highlight that I use does not contain any shimmer and I prefer it that way.

Voila! Your done! I still haven't perfected my oily skin foundation routine. But will get on with it. Just waiting for my skin to get to its oily best.
